Lakelands Toros Soccer Club

Select Soccer Program

What is Select Soccer?

Select soccer means that players are selected for positions on teams based on performance. In South Carolina, Select teams begin at the age of U13 as recommended by United States Youth Soccer.  South Carolina Youth Soccer supports three levels: Challenge (highest level), PMSL (second highest level) and Open (third highest level). Select soccer is for the serious soccer players who want professional instruction and who desire a more competitive environment with other players who share the same goals. Most Select soccer players tend to be those that want to play for their high school and possibly college.

Lakelands Toros Select Program.
The Toros Select program is designed for our 12-18 year old players (U13-U19). U13-U14 teams play in a fall and spring season with the State Cup Championship played at the conclusion of the spring season. U15-U19 teams play during the Fall only with State Cup Championships played at the conclusion of the fall season. All select teams are coached by professional, state and Nationally licensed coaches.

Training
Our select teams train twice a week for 1.5 hours per session, with players challenged to perform at a higher level both technically and tactically. We also encourage all of our players to train at home and to watch as much soccer as possible.

Games
Our Select teams compete in the South Carolina Youth Soccer Leagues. Select soccer is in the 11v11 format, where teams compete against other teams in the State. Our teams compete in the regular season to try to qualify for State Cups in their age division. Select teams play 6-12 league games, depending on how many teams are in their division.

Tournaments
Our U13-14 teams attend three tournament a year (Fall & Spring) and our U15-19 teams attend two tournaments every Fall season. Teams can attend additional tournaments, but at an additional charge.
