Jr. Academy Player Placement Information

Lakelands Toros Announce Junior Academy Player Placements for 2019-2020

Lakelands Toros is delighted to announce our player placements for the 2019 – 2020 soccer year. This includes the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 seasons. Our junior academy player placements are for boys & girls born 2012-2008 (U8-U12).

The cost for the player placement is $40 per person. This is a one time fee and not per evaluation night. Included in the $40 fee is the SCYSA player registration, which allows players to play for the club in the state leagues and provides a secondary insurance for every player in our club.

We ask that every player turns up 30-45 minutes before their scheduled player evaluation, to allow enough time to check-in and go to the correct field. On the first night of the player evaluations, there will be a parents meeting with our Director of Operations, Jamie Ramm. He will go over all of the information about the player placements and future information that will include what happens once the player evaluations are over.

If you have not played for the club in the last year, then you will need to bring a copy of the player’s birth certificate. Every child needs to bring a soccer ball, shin guards and plenty of water to each player placement.

Every player must pre-register before attending his or her player placement. To register, Click here

FAQs: Junior Academy Player Placements

What is the Junior Academy?

The Lakelands Toros Junior Academy is a program designed for 7-11 year old boys and girls who are interested in making an initial, partial step toward Select competitive, travel soccer. The Junior Academy program is a great learning venue for our younger players, and one in which they can develop a real love for the game. There are two seasons a year in the Junior Academy - fall and spring. All Junior Academy teams are coached by professional, state and Nationally licensed coaches. Our coaches aim to develop technical ability as well as introducing tactical awareness to our players. During the season, Junior Academy players practice twice a week, play one games night a week (optional), play 8-10 games in the Cesa league and attend one tournament. We also encourage all of the players in the Academy program to train on their own or with friends and to watch as much soccer as possible.

Does my child have to attend both player placement nights?

The club strongly recommends that players attend both player placement dates. This allows for us to provide more informed decisions regarding player placement and team formation. Should you be unable to attend both, please inform our Director of Operations.

What do I wear at my player placement?

Each player needs to wear cleats shin-guards & bring plenty of water. Depending on the weather will depend on what the player should wear for clothing – something athletic is a must.

What is the purpose of the player placement fee?

The cost for the player placement is $40 per person. This is a one time fee and not per evaluation night. Included in the $40 fee is the SCYSA player registration, which allows players to play for the club in the state leagues and provides a secondary insurance for every player in our club.

Will the current team my child plays on be the same this year?

Your child’s team may be the same as the previous year, but it is not guaranteed. Having pre-determined teams undermines the tryout process.

Will my son be on the same team as the previous season?

Your child may be placed on the same team, but it is not guaranteed. Players have to attend the player placement to be guaranteed their place for a particular team. This is to ensure fairness to all players that attend the player placements.

Is it possible for my child to play up?

The club will asses each player on a case-by-case basis. The decision to move a player up an age group will be solely a soccer decision. In order to play up, a player must exhibit an exceptional skill set in order for the club to grant this. The decision for a player to play up is at the club's discretion.

Will there be a team in each age group?

The club cannot guarantee teams will form in each age group. Our desire is to have as many teams possible, however, teams will be formed based on soccer decisions and some age groups may not form teams.
